Cedars Neighborhood Association

The Cedars neighborhood is located directly south of downtown Dallas, and is the front door to Dallas' southern sector. Neither downtown nor southtown, the Cedars is a vastly diverse and unique neighborhood in itself.

The Cedars is a rich convergence of everything you can find in Dallas: business, art, culture, nightlife, restaurants, lofts, development opportunities, churches, schools, social challenges and civic victories. One thing is sure: the Cedars is a neighborhood on the move.

The purpose of the Cedars Neighborhood Association is to improve the quality of life in the Cedars as it moves from a once-challenged neighborhood to a vibrant urban community.

If you are a stakeholder in the Cedars — a resident, business owner, property manager, or if you work in the Cedars — the Cedars Neighborhood Association is working for you, looking out for the overall good of the neighborhood. Everyone in the Association is working to move the Cedars forward in a positive direction.

Our Association is different from other neighborhood associations in Dallas. Most neighborhood associations are strictly for homeowners. Or for developers. But because the Cedars neighborhood itself is such a diverse collection of business, art, living and development, the Cedars Neighborhood Association reflects all of those interests and includes both homeowners and developers, and others with daily interest in the Cedars. Our meeting discussions are lively, and a wide range of opinions is always expected.

Interested in becoming a part of the organization? Membership is open to any person residing, working, or owning property in the Cedars. You will receive notices of all CNA meetings and special activities, are eligible to vote (one vote per membership) and run for Office, and are eligible to serve on committees.

Cedars Open Studios

The CNA produces one big annual special event, "Cedars Open Studios," the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Open Studios showcases the many Cedars artists living and working throughout the Cedars — it's a fantastic time to see the art side of the neighborhood. You will be amazed at the range of artists and their workspaces!

The Cedars is home to fine artists and craftsmen working in every genre. Their studios, just south of downtown Dallas, have helped the neighborhood come alive. One day a year they open those studios to the public, so you can see not only what they make, but where they make it.

There's plenty of free parking with MOG shuttles between studios, as well as to and from the Dart Light Rail Cedars Station (just a short block away from South Side on Lamar). So if you take the train, we'll take care of you. At the tour Epicenter, on South Ervay Street between Beaumont and Hickory, you'll find information on studios and restaurants, maps, and MOG transport.

All ages are welcome. Event is free to public.

The Sixth Annual Cedars Open Studios is set for Saturday, November 22, 2008.
